NBTE Governing Board Holds 96th Meeting to Advance Technical, Vocational Education

The Governing Board of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has held its 96th meeting in Kaduna, where it deliberated on critical issues concerning the development and strengthening of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, under the chairmanship of Prof. Babatunde Lawal Salako, brought together members of the Governing Board to review developments within the technical education system and consider measures aimed at improving the effectiveness of TVET institutions across the country.

The deliberations focused on key issues requiring the Board’s attention, with emphasis on measures to enhance the quality, relevance and sustainability of technical and vocational education and training. The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to consider developments within the sector and deliberate on appropriate measures to support the continued growth and effectiveness of TVET institutions.

The Board’s deliberations underscored the importance of coordinated efforts in addressing emerging challenges within the technical education system and strengthening the capacity of TVET institutions to equip learners with relevant technical and vocational skills for the world of work.

The meeting formed part of the Governing Board’s statutory responsibility to provide policy direction and oversight for technical and vocational education and training institutions under the mandate of the NBTE.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to reposition the TVET sector, strengthen institutional effectiveness and enhance the development of skilled manpower for national development.
